Swimming lessons

All swimming lesson sessions for the 2024 season will open as soon as instructors are secured. 

Pre K
The Pre-K course aims to get young swimmers comfortable in shallow water, submerse face, hold breath underwater, blow bubbles on the surface, kick on wall, float (front and back) with assistance, enter into the pool appropriately, and knows not to swim without an adult. ​

Level 1 (recommended ages, 5-6)
The Level 1 course aims to get young swimmers using a kickboard, blowing bubbles, floating (front and back) and recovering without support, gliding (front and back) and recovering without support, freestyle swimming and backstroking with assistance, and knowing not to swim without an adult present.

Level 2 (recommended ages, 6-7)
he Level 2 course aims to get swimmers to blow bubbles with head turn to breathe, front and back glide and kick with a board, front and back glide followed by freestyle and backstroke, legal freestyle and backstroke.

Level 3 (recommended ages, 7-8)
In Level 3, swimmers will become comfortable in deep water, work on rotary breathing with freestyle and backstroke swimming. They will work on the legal breast-stroke and butterfly kicks. 

Level 4
In Level 4, swimmers will work to complete 25 yards of breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, and backstroke independently. They will master treading water for periods of time. 

Level 5
In Level 5, advance swimmers will work to improve their skills and learn new skills with freestyle and backstroke flip turns. Swimmers will build stamina and complete 50 yards of freestyle and backstroke, continue to improve on their 25 yards of breaststroke and butterfly. 

Level 6
In Level 6, swimmers refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. They will complete 500 yards continuous swim using 100 yards each of front & back crawl, 50 yards of breaststroke, sidestroke ,& butterfly and 100 yards choice of any of those strokes, survival floating and back floating 5 minutes each, feet first surface dive & retrieve an object from 7 feet, and complete the Cooper 12-minute swim test.
